Crisis intervention
Crisis intervention
The question of “what to do when a person drinks” is not new. If an alcohol addict has a recognition of the disease and a desire to be treated (and this is an indispensable condition for effectively getting rid of addiction), then the actions are simple and clear: seek help from a specialist.
But what about the case when an addicted person drinks and does not want to be treated? And, at the same time, the people around him want to help the addict. In such situations, crisis intervention can be used - a persuasion technique, as a result of which the addict can get out of the “crisis state” and be able to ask for help on his own . The crisis defines, perhaps, a turning point in the course of the illness. And this fact must be skillfully used.

Crisis intervention is an intervention planned with the closest relatives and environment in the relationship of the dependent with the outside world. Typically, crisis intervention is carried out in the form of an installation consultation and several subsequent rehearsals (trainings) with significant stakeholders for the addict - a support group. As a result of the trainings, the support group will learn practical techniques with which they can convince the addict to undergo treatment.
If the addict does not want to be treated, then it is good if 3-4 people from a close circle interested in his recovery come to a psychologist for a consultation. For advice, please contact our specialist.
